Black Jack Camporee – Battle Reenactment

How do you enhance a Scout’s excitement about Scouting and their interest in history? Attend a camporee on a historic battlefield!

Scouts were able to participate in a reenactment of the Battle of Blackjack near Baldwin that is an example of the turmoil during the Bleeding Kansas era and a precursor to the Civil War. All weekend they listened to people portraying leading characters in this skirmish, honing their camping skills and getting to participate in the reenactment of the battle (which included sound effects and smoke machines!).

Thank you Baldwin Troop for letting us attend!
